19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player won his initial trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

The win also means he has won 21 titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
